Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 small head cabbage, cored and chopped
  • 1 14 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 2 teaspoons Tony Chacheres Creole seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat your stovetop over medium heat and brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
  • Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they become tender.
  • Stir in the chopped cabbage, mixing it thoroughly with the meat and vegetables. Cook until the cabbage wilts, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the can of diced tomatoes along with the Creole seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes until all the flavors meld together and the cabbage is tender.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top, cover the skillet, and let it sit until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Serve hot and enjoy your comforting meal!

Notes

For a delightful balance of flavors, pair your Cabbage Roll Skillet with a fresh side salad or some warm, crusty bread. A dollop of sour cream also enhances the flavors beautifully. Consider serving it with iced tea or lemonade for a refreshing twist.
