  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Coating/Topping

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 bell pepper sliced (red or green)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and cornstarch.
  • In a separate small bowl, combine oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat in a large skillet or wok.
  • Dip the marinated steak into the mixture, allowing excess to drip off.
  • Cook the steak in batches, turning frequently, until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Add more oil between batches if needed.
  • Once the steak is cooked, add sliced onion, bell pepper, minced garlic, and ginger to the skillet.
  • Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
  • Return the steak to the skillet and pour the sauce over the mixture.
  • Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly.
  • Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
